Lateral w/ MD?

So I've been on the desk for about 8 months now, and have a question about lateral movement with an MD.

I'm currently at a smaller boutique shop, and my MD is looking to move somewhere bigger. If he leaves, I won't have a job, so I'm essentially being forced to move. My MD says he wants me to move with him, and will pull as many strings as he can, but I'll still have to interview for the role.

I'm on board with the move, and I was just wondering how intense I can expect these interviews to be, as I'm in a really bad headspace due to issues in my personal life.

I'm wondering if anyone has jumped shops with an MD/D/VP, and how intense the interview process was at the new firm?

I don't have experience going through that but I imagine the questions will be more softball if the MD is pushing for you and vouches for you. Of course this is all conjecture on my part
