Lateraling from ECM
Hi guys,
ECM AN1 about 6 months in. I actually quite like it and have had some awesome deal exposure, but I’m pretty much working coverage hours and don’t feel like I am learning as much as I could be technically, so want to look into making a move to a coverage group. What is the process for actually making the move? It seems like a lot of people at my bank who have been in ECM since they were juniors will always be in ECM, and in this constantly shifting age I think it’s unwise to attach myself to one skillset that is not really applicable to much else. I have a couple of industries in mind, but tbh would just appreciate some insight from others who did it - where did you go, at what stage of your career did you move, how did you go about doing it, and, importantly, how did you prepare?

What type of bank is this? Have genuinely never heard ECM pulling those hours unless understaffed or something
Understaffed and entire team is spread thinly on variety of pitches and live deals.

You're team hiring for analysts? Current AN1 in S&T and want to move into ECM/banking haha
Move after the first year
