Lateraling in Los Angeles

Has anyone here gone through the lateral process to a shop in Los Angeles, specifically from one bank in LA to another? To provide a bit of background, I just finished my first year at a boutique M&A shop (~8 offices) in the greater LA area and am looking to move upstream - ideally to a BB/EB but not counting out larger MM shops as well.

Looking to get some insight if your lateral move was through an internal job board/word of mouth, recruiters or a general job posting. Appreciate any help/information.

Isn't Houlihan Lokey headquartered in LA? My buddy interned there in the LA office and loved it. Ultimately joined HL full-time in NYC to have more options for a buy-side exit but if your goal is to lateral in LA I would imagine they might have the most opportunity.

I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

@rogersterling59", appreciate the reply. Yes, HL is based in LA and I will most likely reach out to them at some point. I have a pretty good sense for the banks in LA, I am more so interested in how anyone who has lateralled into these groups went about it.

Realistically, I am looking to bounce some ideas off of someone who has gone this route, or a similar path in other non NY/SF/Chicago locations but open to any insight anyone would care to share.
