Lateraling to IB - KPMG Deal Advisory vs. Deloitte M&A Transaction Services Advisory

Hi there- I’m a junior at UT Austin’s master in accounting program with the goal of ultimately working in private equity. I’m considering lateraling into investment banking in between, but am still quite unsure of the feasibility of doing so.

Any advice on which of these two jobs would set me up for a better chance in this career path? I plan on starting out in Chicago. Thanks!

Other context: I have a 3.5 GPA so I have a slim chance at landing a position at a BB, EB, or MM. I don’t want to work in finance forever so I hear the best thing to do is to lateral to a BB, EB, or MM (especially from a big four given my accounting background) rather than start at a boutique. Thoughts?
