Latest on Lazard
Hi monkeys,
Anyone willing to share their latest experience working with/for Lazard in continental Europe? Have an offer to join FT as an analyst.
Mostly curious about culture, working hours, pay, relationship between regional offices and hubs in London/Paris, their best groups, exit ops and training.
Would appreciate any insights! Thanks
Have worked with them previously. One of the two (other being Rothschild) hallmark names in Europe. Generally good across the board, involvement across large deals, definitely has a reputation as a sweat shop. One long tenure (A2A promote)VP did mention that she was able to log off regularly at about 11 but not sure if that’s the norm. Good outplacement as well.
My Advice: Choose 2 sectors at max and dominate them, get your deal chops and skill set and go do PE.
Yeah agree on the top reputation. What worries me are the hours. Not sure if the step=up in pay and brand name will be worth the additional effort required.
Culture in Europe is kinda brutal, hours tough as well. Paris office is a hellhole. Regional offices work very independently and run deals on their own end to end. No sector teams there except Paris (think TMT and FIG only, rest of juniors are generalists).
*edited* what do you think the hours/amount of weekend work is like for analysts?
Not sure about that tbh. I'd generally expect some weekend work, how much will depend on the circumstances I guess
