Lazard Restructuring Summer Intern Placement

I recently spoke with an associate at my b-school who summered at Lazard and told me that restructuring was most competitive major/minor group assignment for the associate summer internship. I was surprised this guy was not able to get restructuring as he seemed extremely solid. Aside from performing really well in the interviews (the obvious factor), is there anything else I could do early to position myself to get on some restructuring projects if I am offered the summer internship? I would appreciate any advice anyone can offer.
