Deal Flow: They advised Amgen on their $10B acquisition of Onyx within the last few weeks. See the link below. If it's one of the 5 biggest biotech deals in history as the article says, that's not bad.

Hours/Culture: Shorter hours and more laid back than probably any NY office and some SF offices too, but it's still IB.

Exit Opps: Hard to say. I tend to think that if you're a top analyst at a top tier firm, regardless of the office, you should be in good shape.

The Lazard healthcare group is pretty small and split b/w SF that does mostly biotech/life sciences and NY which does more hospital administration, insurance, IT etc.

Even though the division is small, they punch way above their weight class; they've worked on some large deals and have great deal flow. Exits in healthcare banking aren't the typical exits in generalist banking, but Laz SF places very well into top venture capital firms (i.e. NEA) and industry

would you say the lack of typical buyout HC PE exits is more self-selection? Given how early on-cycle is I'm sure people working exclusively on biopharma could still recruit for buyout HC PE; moreover, I've seen people recruit for buyout PE in industries that are very different to their group (eg. seen a Natural Resources kid go to Tech Buyout PE) - largely bc of the lack of real deal experience when going through on cycle
