Can you please share why you're interested in leaving GS after one year? Could be helpful, since so many people on this site have GS as their target firm. Thanks.
Hey, also a 1st year at GS and have thought of that same question. Before on cycle Pe recruitment I didn’t leave because I was afraid it would kick off at any moment and I would be stuck in a middle ground limbo. However, now that on cycle is over, the choice is still unclear as many contracts have language that stipulate we cannot change jobs before X number of weeks before we start our next role. If you haven’t done on cycle or aren’t interested in leaving for the buyside, then I would just wait it out till August, collect a check and bounce. Would caution that the grass is rarely as green as it would seem. If sweatiness is what you want to escape, those banks aren’t the place to go.
and for the question about why leave. GS isn’t all roses and perfume my friend. It’s hard to communicate the toll such a lifestyle takes upon you until you’ve been in it.
I totally get it. But from talking with your friends in IB, would you say GS has been any "worse" for you, from either a WLB or cultural perspective (how you're treated by your superiors)?
