Anyone know what to make of this?
Went for an interview last Monday (October 29th). Got a call from HR lady this Wednesday, saying that everyone was really impressed/pleased with my interviews. She asked about office preferences/other deadlines and said that I would hear from a VP about my status on Thursday. Still haven't heard anything at all. Was I just put on hold?

Hard to say. I've gotten a call from a bank's HR in-charge with promise of them getting back to me but nada.
Fact is banks are mercenary when hiring and DON'T take their word for anything.
