For those that attend Ivy League and other prestigous schools - how prevalent are legacy students in your class? How are they treated socially? Are they respected? How do they tend to fare academically and during recruiting?

you'll never know who is legacy and who is not
No one knows who is a legacy and who isn't. They don't usually get any special treatment unless your talking about greek life where kids typically go to the frats/sororities that their parents/older siblings are in if they're still around.
I've also noticed that ivy legacies typically come from well-to-do families, are fairly well connected, but perform just as well as everyone else.
It helps a tiny bit in the admissions process. That's about it.
so you guys never ask your friends what their parents do or where they went to school?
Yes, people ask what your parents do and on some occasions even where they went to school. From my experience, you usually only discuss this with friends. Regardless, no one cares if you came in through legacy. They only care about how well you are doing.
if you wear a patek phillippe to intro economics, you are probably a legacy
