No, but will consider it next time I need to find a job.

I never casually look for people, but did pretty frequently back when I was recruiting. (However, when I have a contact that I know in real life I usually search/add them on LinkedIn though if that's what you meant by the question.) Again, my habits will probably change again down the road next time I'm actively seeking new employment.

Daily, but only because I'm admin of one of my school's alumni groups and have to check/admit the membership requests every once and a while. I prob average less than 5 minutes on daily.

No

Not as much as I should be, but I add everyone I meet.

In a few months I'll be living on there because I'm either going to switch jobs and/or get ready to apply to bschool. My experience has been extremely positive as I networked into my current job through LinkedIn. LinkedIn is best used in conjunction with every other approach, but can be extremely useful.

+1 for potentially very interesting post, thank you. Anyone here have any luck applying to job posts there?

No.

I (tactfully) end almost every meaningful conversation I have with anyone "Do you have LinkedIn?" and then look them up and add them through my android... so i guess its a bit aggressive...

I routinely go through WSO, Dealbook, firmsconsulting, Linkedin and Twitter so everyday

UFOinsider I keep hearing about success stories of people getting hired through Linkedin, my contract is done March next year hopefully all my efforts will pay off and I'll be able to pick something up through it as well.

What's the response rate to applying to jobs there? Have you tried yet?

LinkedIn is useful to stalk people and see what their background consists of (i.e. what schools they went to, where they worked, etc.). Useful for career planning.

I don't have an upgraded account.

I don't search out people I know. In fact, I rarely add people that I know, even if their name pops up as a recommended connection.

Unless I receive a message or a request, I probably go on the thing less than once a month. It doesn't really serve much purpose unless you're seeking a job or stalking people. If I have a business relationship with someone I'll just shoot them an email or call them rather than send a LinkedIn message.
