Do they do any merchant banking out of London or is investment and merchant banking separate?
Do they do any tech or only telco/media?

Career Resources
from what i know - their London office doesn't have a merchant banking arm. Merchant banking is strictly in NYC. Culture is great from what I've heard and they run extremely lean. I also read somewhere on WSO that they're heavily weighed towards telecom mandates right now.
Several threads on this recently. Horrible culture (sweatshop), no merchant banking, dealflow is ~90% Telco but trying to build out Tech practice
If merchant banking is strictly in NYC, why are there people in Paris saying “Investment & Merchant Banking” on LinkedIn?
I'm not 100% but that's what I heard from someone at the firm that they only do merchant banking out of their NYC office. Not even their west coast branches.

Liontree used to be like Raine where people would do advisory and investing but no longer. They have a dedicated investment team in NY. They also shut down their Paris office

Generally, I can't imagine how people can survive pulling 90-100h weeks consistently week after week

My wife is an exec at a media company currently working with them. As an unaffiliated expert at this, I haven't been impressed by the quality of work. Maybe it's just this deal team though...and I don't know any of them personally. I have done enough processes to detect legit or BS from a mile away. Signed LOI though so that's something - at least they are closing deals.
For reference I ended up interviewing with then and they were hardcore. All told me that they had never worked so much before. The ED gave me 100 hours as a baseline.
Probably a decent deal exposure but culture looks terrible.
