Living close to NYC

Monkeys, could really use your help. I’ve accepted a job in NYC but only have to go to the office ~2x a month. I would still like to live close to the city (max. within 30min but prefer 15-20). With the current rent prices it makes little sense to live in Manhattan, and I am not very familiar with NYC, so any help is appreciated!

For a 15-20min commute (depending on where your office is) its gonna be a burough just outside Manhattan.

Brooklyn: Prospect Park, Brooklyn Heights, Williamsburg - or areas generally along the east river / closer to Manhattan

Jersey: Jersey city or Hoboken

Queens: Long Island City / Astoria

Options further away:

White Plains - 45min train ride

Greenwhich, CT - ~45min trade ride

Stamford, CT - 1 hour train ride

If you don't mind the suburbs, you have Scarsdale, Rye, Port Chester or other places in that vicinity
