Last year I applied around now for JPM and got an AC invite some time in October. I did ACs into MAY, which is when I accepted my BB IBD SA. It's a bit of an Americanism, this thing with "apply straight away or else you're cooked". It's not like that here. But that does not mean that you should apply the day before the deadline because it's a rolling process.
