London IBD Profile Feedback

Hi guys,

Currently an undergrad student at a semi-target in UK (think Bristol/Warwick/Bath/Notts) and am keen to land a IBD BB role in London to eventually pursue PE.

Profile:

2.1 Grade
1 year intern experience in a MM PE fund within IR
SA at a top placement agent (Rede/Campbell Lutyens/Lazard)
Incoming IBD SA at a top MM (Gleacher Shacklock/Jefferies/HL)

Also have a grad secured at Tier 2 Strat Consulting firm (S&/OW/ATK)

What steps would you guys recommend moving ahead in order to make the BB move happen?
Context: Masters isn't currently an option due to financing, and have taken the grad role as I am an international student.

Is it wiser to do the SA, get return offer and try to lateral? If so, how often is it done and how easy is it to do? Should I also consider reapplying for FT roles at BBs for 2021? The consulting role is within a PE CDD team, so is it worth staying there as the end goal is PE?

Thanks for your time, will appreciate any feedback

Want to end up in PE though, hence the conundrum between taking IB and consulting. Also how difficult is it to lateral from MM boutiques to BB? If it's not as straightforward should I try the consulting -> MBB -> MF route? The Strat I'm joining is among the top within PE as well.

Why do you want to do PE though? Just because it is the holy grail described on that website? Ask yourself what you enjoy in a job, what types of environment you enjoy, because an MM is very different from a BB that is very different from consulting.

For instance I wouldn’t be able to deal with the constant travel that consultants deal with, so there’s no way I’d take a consulting offer. I also much rather work in large teams and have a big analyst class to go out with than work in small teams at an EB/MM.

I think you should think about things like this. If you feel well and do well, all of these jobs will open doors to PE, but if you are not a top performer it will just make it harder.
