2024 SA here not from the UK. Wondering what interns usually use to find accommodation in London in the summer? Have taken a look at a handful of student residences and haven't had much luck with the availability I'm looking for. Wondering if it's best to just use AirBnB or something.

Since it sounds like you're out of luck for student accoms, you can use SpareRoom if you're willing to live with others, sometimes they've got flats to rent depending on the area.
Airbnb is very good but expensive, spare room is cheaper but you’d likely have to share with someone
SpareRoom is the main platform. Now is maybe a bit too early to start looking
If you have friends (or know a few others) also down in London for summer, I’d suggest reaching out to see if anyone has friends from London unis who are heading home for summer but have a 12 month contract. This is what I did last summer.
Loads of LSE/UCL students sublet their rooms over summer so those are ideal to stay in for 10 weeks
I stayed in UCL student accommodation alongside a lot of my friends also doing summer internships
