London Summer Student Housing
Hey all,
I’m trying to sort out some student accom for my SA next year and was wondering whether anyone had any recs which wouldn’t completely absorb my take home salary. Would preferably like to be within 10-15min tube/uber given the hours. Double bed, en suite etc, don’t mind sharing kitchen as I doubt ill be using much during week. Obvs want something safe, maybe a gym included (if not too much to ask). Have had a look at IQ/urbanesy etc but have heard some poor things from mates about safety for how much you’re paying (£400+ p/w). Happy to take over someone else’s tenancy if anyone knows any forums. Any guidance is appreciated :)
Location is Farringdon/Blackfriars^
Grats on GS / BofA!
I stayed in urbanist Waterloo. No complaints.
Good luck getting something 10-15 mins from the office and not eating your salary lol. That's a lot to ask for a short term rental - even if you were renting long-term this would be a lot to ask.
Within 30 is reasonable.
I second Urbanest Waterloo (Westminster Bridge). Not sure if they do Summer rentals beyond subleasing from an existing tenant (which is against the contract) but people still do it anyway. I'm currently staying here now for uni and have no complaints. £297 pw for rent and right opposite Big Ben.
I just had a look online and the cheapest option is a twin room for £329, (big no for me personally given I might be paired with a uni student who’s coming back post club at whatever time). Which room option did you get?
Ah yeah my mistake I forgot that the uni rates are different to the private rates. I have a shared flat with 2 of my other friends which makes it a bit easier. Have you thought of checking out Air bnb? I think they’re decent for short term rentals
In that area myself for uni, you can rent the rooms at the student accoms. over the summer.

Go to the local universities in the area, so City/Bayes and look at the accommodations they have and contact them. Someone mentioned Chapter already, you also have one called Romano (Unite) that I know people stayed for summer internships and other stuff
Interned at a top BB last Summer. Most people were ~25 mins from office. Rare were the interns paying less than GBP1.5k
As a suggestion, although not 10-15 minutes but more like 45 mins to 1 hour depending on if rush hour or not, Amersham could be a decent suggestion as both are on the metropolitan line and a short term rental in Amersham wouldnt be as expensive as London and trains are like 7 quid each way.
Would highly advise against this for IBD
I did this commute last year and it nearly killed me especially given ubers home were north of 80 GBP
