I'm currently in the process of interviewing for lateral positions at some of these larger banks and middle market firms, and I just wanted to get you guys' thoughts on them. I'm coming from a small M&A firm.
Are all of these firms on relatively the same level when it comes to deal flow/size and potentially exit opportunities, or do some stand out as a cut above or below the others?

UBS is definitely a cut above in terms of deal size and exits. I've seen BMO place better than Cowen and Stifel in Chicago PE, but they seem pretty similar to me. Idk about HSBC.

UBS >>>>>> Cowen = BMO = Stifel > HSBC, UBS really doesn't pitch against any of these MM firms, compete more against Upper MM/Lower BB banks like Jefferies, RBC or DB
are you an A1 like started last summer? how are you getting these leads? HH or online postings? curious bc I also am looking into lateral opportunities and have found it hard
OP here, I started almost a year ago and I'm getting most of these leads from friends or college alumni. I'd agree it's been incredibly difficult. I'm not interviewing at all these places, they're just spots I had receptive conversations at. Also from what I was told Stifel and BMO no longer plan on FT at all.
How would you compare liontree to the previously mentioned firms?

How would places like Baird/Blair compare to these? Would people take a top MM shop over UBS?
Assuming Baird/Blair Chicago, I would personally accept either over any of the firms listed above.
