M&A group at lower tier BB (RBC/HSBC) or coverage/levfin at BB middle tier (CS/BarCap/Citi)?
Friend asked me which was better in general and for pe exits and I wasn’t sure. Curious to hear thoughts and advice.

Coverage / Lev Fin at Mid
If it's HSBC M&A then definitely wouldn't select that over the other options. If it's RBC M&A I'm not entirely sure, but it'd probably be up to preference. Only bringing up the difference between the two banks you mentioned because M&A at HSBC is significantly worse than HSBC's Levfin, which isn't great for exits to begin with.
M&A =/= PE exits lol. Take coverage/Levfin at the better bank 10/10 times. Especially if it’s CS LevFin
There was just no need for you to call RBC/HSBC "BBs"
HSBC... Lol... Do they even do M&A deals?
