M&A Law/Banking - Brazil
n Brazil, students can attend law school and intern at the same time. I currently work in the legal M&A department of one of the top law firms in the country (1.5y in). We handle some of the largest deals in Brazil and represent major international clients. in July, I’m going on a six-month exchange program to Europe. I spoke with one of the partners, and he assured me that I’ll have my position back when I return.
I've always been interested in investment banking, although I'm not very familiar with the technical aspects yet. Recently, I worked on a deal involving one of the top M&A boutiques in Brazil and got along well with one of their M&A partners. They just launched an introductory course on IB, and I was selected to join.
Now I’m unsure about my next step, when im back from Europe should I pursue an internship at this boutique or at a BB(I have connections who can help me land a spot), or should I stay on the M&A legal path, which I enjoy but find financially concerning, since it takes time to start making good money?
FYI - im still a junior, so i have 2Y as an intern ( Law in brasil is a 5 year course)
