M&A league tables - American momentum?
http://fn.dealogic.com/fn/MARank.htm
1. Citi is killing it (ahead of JPM for the #3 spot)
2. BAML has had positive momentum for the past year
3. The 5 American BBs comprise the top 5 in the list
What is it about American banks that give them a competitive advantage? Have stricter regulations in Europe constrained the amount of capital that banks such as Barc, CS, DB and UBS can commit for financing transactions?
To a certain extent, I realize that the American BBs have always dominated, but it looked like CS and BARC had some positive momentum going for them, and some had them above the likes of Citi and BAML only a year or two ago. Now, both Citi and BAML seem to be challenging JPM for that 3 spot, and CS and BARC are in the dust. What's changed?
Citi was historically, on average, always there ML was epic, but BAML not so much... still a big player
CS was often ahead of BAML and Citi Barclays is one of the newer players DB was once entrepreneurial, new place and poacher of best talent
etc.
How is being #3 in MA in the US and #6 worldwide considered dust? Please tell me OP. Do you actually work in the industry? I would hate to hire kids like you.
