And while I'm at it, are Macabacus macros superior to "simple shortcuts"? I have read the threads but never heard a direct answer.

As far as which is better, it all depends on your needs. If you're a power user, you probably want to use Macabacus. If you are more a recreational user, you might find the simplicity on Simple Shortcuts appealing. There's nothing that Simple Shortcuts does that Macabacus doesn't, but there's a ton of tools, shortcuts, etc. that are unique to Macabacus. Plus, Macabacus is far more customizable.
Ok, since you probably are a site administrator there, the site is up but if i try to create an account it says "cannot create, try later"..... so its still not fixed.
