market research to ibd?

have been working in markets research for a year and find myself more interested in the practical side rather than giving views. was thinking going into other s&t desk but dun think i can sustain bearing p&l risks in long term. so tht makes me consider options in ibd (but dun hv relevant experience and i kn is hard). Another reason for it is tht it's more sector/company focused where you also get to learn and evaluate different business models, which I think is a skillset tht is more unique vs macro views. is it very unlikely to break into ibd now given the situation ?
