Maxxing out allowance
Does it look bad to spend the full amount for the Hotel allowance? It won't affect my candidacy or make HR hate me will it? Tell me I am paranoid.

yes you are. there are so many meaningful questions that could be asked and answered by the knowledgeable people of this board and yet more than half of the threads are about the petty details
Seriously, what the hell does HR care about your plane ticket? It's not coming out of their pocket. That's why they set maximum allowances - it's all factored into their recruiting budget. They probably won't even notice. Seriously, they aren't setting a limit and waiting to ding the fucker who comes closest to breaking it.
Just get somewhere close and comfortable and get on with it, why bother stressing yourself about this nonsense when you're trying to get a job?
I agree with lllll, though I will not bash you as Mssrs nystateofmind and LdnMezz have chosen to do.
What I will say is that the insecurity evident in the sentence: “It won't affect my candidacy or make HR hate me will it?” is unbecoming of a prospective banker.
This seems a good time to add my own personal vexation. This forum has become dominated by candidates preparing for interviews etc. While I commend their attitude, I am unsure as to whether the site still caters for those stuck in their cube on Wall Street to the extent it may have originally been designed to do. Perhaps the moderators would care to comment.
I have actually found that the nature of questions posted on this forum displays a strong element of seasonality.
During SA and FT recruiting season, the posts / questions on this forum tend to put a lot of emphasis on recruiting. In my opinion though, the overall nature of content posted and the site's user "mix" hasn't really changed that much.
smuguy97, that is indeed re-assuring. I am but a young whippersnapper, when it comes to membership of this community.
Green and blue stripped tie or blue with black? Seriously guys.
