MBA needs advice

I know this MD at a MM bank who knows that I will be pursuing a summer role at his bank, and asked me to stay in touch. Recently, his group hired another MD from a competing bank. Do you think its a good idea to congratulate him on this new hiring?

When I read threads asking Social Interaction 101 questions like this, I feel like there is a generation of Aspergers sufferers on the verge of entering banking.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, post threads about how to do it on WSO.

Don't reach out to him for anything HR related. You have no idea what the dynamics are being the scenes. Also, since you said you'll be pursuing a Summer role at this firm, I assume you haven't started your MBA yet. IB recruiting is super structured at MBA programs. Don't feel the need to jump the gun. You'll be fed through the IB recruiting machine soon enough.
