Medical student thinking about transition to finance
Hi everyone, I'm a second year medical student at a top UK med school in London, having attended and excelled at a top private school before university (useful for networking). Even though I do think I would enjoy a career as a physician, I believe that some of the skills I'd pick up as a doctor as well as the ones I currently have could be useful in the financial world
I attempted to secure an internship at a small M&A boutique this summer, reaching the final stage of selection but losing out to a more experienced candidate. My main interest lies in healthcare/healthech M&A, although I have heard that MDs are sought after in ER too. Any advice on how to lateral into IB, or whether a bulge bracket bank or a smaller boutique would fit my profile better would be greatly appreciated, as well as any insight into other career options.
Thanks in advance
