Merrill Private Placement or Private Equity Direct

Curious about the function of this group, opportunities...etc Offered a night analyst position for the group, but must work during school, is it worth it? is it good leverage for IB Industry/M&A group for summer internship?

found this thread: too little detail //www.wallstreetoasis.com/node/4869

thanks in advance

ML PE Directs- private placements is a pretty decent group. They assist mid cap (under $300M) companies in raising capital by issuing Rule 144 restricted securities or PIPE's. You'll assist with putting together business plans, drafting memos, and pretty much pitch the company to institutional investors to buy into the private offering. Not as modelling-intensive as the product groups- M&A or Lev Fin, because there is not much need to. But it's a good start.

I heard one analyst placed with Warburg Pincus PE in Asia, you just have to make the best of it.

among banker, do ppl see it equally challenging as other product groups? or is it considered the lesser of the product groups? what is the full-time salary like? (salary+bonus)
