Middle Market Private Equity SA vs HSBC IB SA

Any help is greatly appreciated. The MM PE fund is ~$3B, has amazing culture, and the team comes from reputable backgrounds. Return offer possible. HSBC is IB and a brand name, but I’m not sure that it would provide the greatest optionality unless I lateral for FT recruiting. I would love to get into UMM PE, growth equity, or have the option to get an MBA in the future. Thoughts??

Take the MM PE opportunity as it would be a much better learning experience with better exit opps to what you're hoping to do. I know many people working FT at HSBC and, from my conversations with them, they have basically no deal flow so majority of your time will be spent on pitching, marketing, admin work with very little exposure to modelling / actual live deals.

Go to HSBC because you'll get a return offer vs trying to recruit in a dead market with a hiring freeze with your PE offer. Maybe if this was 2021 you could go to the PE shop, but it's not. Be sensible, you can move over later - secure a job first.
