Miserable at group - complete culture clash

Hello,

I am currently a first year analyst at a lower tier BB. To make a long story short - I cannot stand my group. I am confident in my modeling and industry knowledge skills and I think I will be successful in another group ( I have been doing good work for my current group and have been told so). I like banking a lot and I would love to continue on to 3rd year and associate, but I am absolutely suffocating in my group. The people are complete assholes. I know for a fact that not all of banking is like that, because I interned at a different group and have many friends, who are analysts at other banks / groups. My group is the biggest catch 22 you can possibly imagine. I don't want to get into too much detail, but this is terrible. What can I do? I want to do this long-term but I cannot stay in this effing group for another year!

Why were you assigned to this group? I can only speak for a couple of BB but in my view given the market there is certainly no room for mobility at your level. I have heard about some analysts in the NY and LA offices who tried to move and were made redundant in the 2nd round of cuts... best is to do your job and opt for mobility in 18 months...

definitely try, and have some balls about it too (not saying you don't); if you are doing good work, and if you are genuine, then it would be really silly for ppl to get pissed if you tell them your story
