Missed Application - WTF

I go to fill out Jefferies application today, and apparently I missed the November 1st deadline. I am really pissed about this. Jefferies was one of my first choices. Does anyone know if there are other firms that had November 1st deadlines as well? I filled out a good amount of applications, but had no idea there was such thing as a November 1st deadline for a Summer position... Guess that is my fault and I can scratch one off the list.

Also, do you guys think there is a way around this? I have a few solid connections at Jefferies, and I am thinking about reaching out to them to let them know about this. Any chance at still landing an interview?

May be a stupid question, but is there any way that they would let someone apply to the formal process after the deadline? I remember distinctly looking at their website and I could not find anywhere that listed a "November 1st Deadline."

why were you even applying online if you had a few solid connections. You should have just asked them to forward your resume to HR. Call them up say your interested and see if they know the right HR person to fwd to

No idea why you would apply online if you had connections there.

The question is why haven't you sent your resume to said connections?

I don't understand what you guys are implying... Of course I have sent my resume to the contacts that I have there. But don't you also always need to be in the formal system as well? I was always told to do both. As far as HR goes, my contacts have told me that they have already sent my resume to them a couple weeks ago. Had about 3 guys do the same thing.

Yes, I believe you are correct about the formality that goes into applying to banks.

I think that there's still a chance you can get around it if you explain the situation to the people you know there.

Hey man-- sorry to hear that.

The application was kind of confusing though-- it said 2014 internship program, various locations.. but if you looked at the locations under the header, they were all EMEA (moscow, london, etc.). I don't know if there is a difference btwn US/EMEA -- but could use that as an explanation re: why you didn't apply

Thanks. Yeah so that's probably what happened. I went to their website a few days ago and typed in "summer analyst" in the search box like I usually do when it asks to search for jobs. It said 0 results, so after looking around a bit more, I just came to the conclusion that they didn't post the application yet given that it is only November. Guess you have to learn the hard way sometimes.. Because that happened, I got 8 additional applications in today lol.
