MM as sophomore

I had a similar thread to this one but couldnt find it so Im posting a new one. is it possible for a sophomore to get a MM IB internship with a decent amount of networking. in particular i'm thinking of a lower MM firm, their IB is headquartered where I go to school, i'm sure they do OCR but the only thing on our website is an info session. starting with that, would it be possible get an offer for the summer? I have previous bb pwm experience, strong finance related activities, decent GPA. go for the whole "if money is an issue then I'm willing to work for free" as a last ditch effort?

I know this topic has been discussed a lot here but with the current job environment, I'm wondering if its still true.

i have had a BB IBD internship in 1st and 2nd year of the Uni. Actually, in the first year I had both spring week and 10 week summer intership, in 2nd only a 11 week summer internship.

it is all very possible and not so hard to get... dont ask stupid questions when networking, be straight with what you want and dont waste their time... and try different locations, be flexible.

MM should really be no problem, although if you are shooting for elite MM, you will need some unorthodox approach. if you put yourself in the queue behind 1000 other students with same boring questions and stupid approach, you dont really have chances except if you have some extraordinary gpa and good school + ecs
