Target school student (LSE/Oxbridge/Warwick) with a graduate scheme offer at an MM. Wondering how possible it is to lateral to a BB/EB after 1-2 years at an MM, and whether or not it really matters where you start your career as a banker?

Hey, saw your post earlier, but was more curious about laterals into BBs/EBs rather than buy-side placement if you have any input on that
laterals to eb and bb no issue. tough to get into top 3 banks though - not common at all. common is Lincoln to HL etc etc etc (insert any MM names). MM to EB common aim for many - although most cannot so cycle through MM firm hence chances of being career banker higher if you are at MM.
You can very feasibly lateral to a top banking group from a MM role. From there you can do literally anything.

I'm partial to some Warwick shitposting, but what prospect said wasn't really wrong, was it. Do 2 years at a reputable MM, get crushed and get 3-4 deals under your belt and it's more than feasible
