Mortgage Lender to Investment Bank
All,
I just finished my sophomore year at the University of Florida (majoring in finance) and am currently working an internship at a mid-sized mortgage lender. So far, it's a lot of fixed income trading via GNMA/FNMA type bonds and incorporating hedging strategies while selling off the loans. (I accepted it over the run-of-the-mill PWM internship because I wanted something more unique and also found a lot of interest in the whole MBS process after reading a few books on the '08 crisis.)
Anyone have any experience/ tips on leveraging this experience to break into Investment Banking? I'm primarily applying to Fixed Income/ DCM internships as that seems to be the most natural transition. Any help/ discussion would be appreciated, as it's tricky enough coming from a non-target.
Thanks in advance.
