Moving from S&T to GCM?
Hello All,
So i currently work in sales at a bulge bracket bank and have done so for a few years. My first year was as a research analyst which was mandatory on my program.
I've been given the opportunity to potentially move into GCM probably in a syndicate role.
My question is i'm interested in moving to the IB side of the bank and i have some modeling skills and do enjoy that side of my work. (Spent considerable time on oil asset restructuring models etc).
Having spent some time browsing on here everyone seems to bash GCM. I'm aware that my modeling skills probably wont be utilised in this role but i know to know if i'm pigeon holing myself further moving to GCM from sales?
Should i hold out for a lateral IB move in the bank (which seems possible given the feedback i've had).
Down the line i would like the option of a hedge fund or PE companies to be open to me, or at least a move to a large corporate like Google etc.
Your feedback would be appreciated.
