Navigating FT recruiting 2022

Semi-target diversity. Secured a 2022 mid-tier BB SA offer a while ago but ended up not in an ideal group at the bank. Currently thinking of jumping into banking recruiting again for 2023 FT, but was wondering over a couple of things: When should I start cold emailing to other firms (in a way that does not really interfere with my summer reputation), are FT technicals usually harder, and how should I best communicate my reasoning for the switch, and any other tips really.

P.s. would also love to hear some thoughts on switching to consulting too.
