Incoming SA at a BB from a target school. I used to have terrible social anxiety and found networking to be super boring.
But then, I had a realization. I only find people interesting if I’m attracted to them. So, I started exclusively emailing analysts and associates I found hot, and my success rate instantly went through the roof. I always requested to meet over video rather than phone. Suddenly, my coffee chats were way more engaging. I found it way easier to keep the conversation going and ask good questions. As a result, I was able to score multiple offers at different banks.
So next time you’re in a rut for networking, try filtering by sorority or ethnic affinity clubs on LinkedIn to find your type.
