Networking cannot get you in Front-End Investment Banking
It is not possible for all of us to go to an M7 or a top league B-School. I believe the IB career market punishes us a lot in terms of being able to get an IB analyst role at par with a grad from an M7. When it comes to my B-School, (Top 15 in my country) I have not seen any IB analyst so far.
I guess then the only other option left is Networking. I think it doesnt't really help you a lot to gain access to a role that you covet but cannot obtain by directly applying to the company. You can get some side roles however like an analyst for a certain sector and that too is rare or when the company posts on its website. But companies reserve their flagship roles only for the M7. Would like to hear the views of you guys.
A 2 minute glance through LinkedIn would prove you wrong in short order. People love blaming exogenous factors for their current circumstance, when a little introspection would reveal the truth. I suggest you do the same.
