Networking Dilemma - Catch 22 essentially
So, I'm in training at a finance firm ( non IB ), but I want to network with some alumni. Problem is that training officially starts in the morning and ends in the afternoon, and it's not like I can just walk out to talk on the phone with an MD.
Do I just tell the MD I can only talk after time X. Time X is before 6pm...
It's great that this guy responded, but I'm in a Catch 22 if I try and speak with him before Time X - network with him, but piss off current firm or vice-versa.
You either a) do everything through email and set calls up in the fall b) call during your lunch break c) call after work .
Should I just straight out say I'm in training, and that's why I can't talk/meet during the day.
Better you ask a Guy i.e. MD for guidance and have a call scheduled/re-scheduled with the help of the secy to that person.. Sometimes good to follow protocol.. Some time committments are urgent, else are important..
