Networking Dilemma - Securing an internship for summer associate

Hey guys,

I am trying to secure an intership for the summer associate, and I found out that a solid MM shop is looking to fill a spot. Obviously, it would have been nice if I have been networking with this MM shop since the beginning of the recruiting cycle but I just did not have MM shops on my list.

I obviously want to network and get to know as much people as I can between now and whenever they decide to stop collecting resumes, but will this effort fire right back at me?

If it is still OK to network, what suggestions do you guys have in terms of answering questions that are along the lines of "what other banks are you looking at" "why haven't you received an offer from anywhere"? I interviewed with BBs, went to superdays on 2 but no offers.

I am willing to whatever it takes to get them to know that I am serious about getting this internship. Any advice from experts will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, continue networking. That is your lifeblood as a job hunter, and any respectable shop would understand. Personally I would not want to hire someone who placed all their eggs in one basket anyways. It makes for bad business.
