Networking next steps from here

I am currently working to lateral into banking from a corp dev function.

Almost 2 months ago, I networked with an alum who is VP/D at a low tier BB. The alum asked for my resume at the end of call and I thought the call went well. No movement on the application since then and I was told that I would be notified as soon as the alum hears any update.

Is it a bad move to reach out to other person within the same group to network or is it just best to wait?

You should not reach out to anyone else in the group. It gives the impression that you are trying to back channel around the VP. Chances are, there is no open position, or there was, and they decided to not fill it. Take a look at my lateraling guide. If you have solid transaction experience that you can speak to and a well-written resume, you should have no issue networking your way into interviews at other banks.

Thanks, and it makes sense. FWIW, posting is still up just no movement. Ive contacted the hr who posted the role but havent heard back. Does it make sense to send a quick follow up to vp after waiting a month since our last correspondence?
