Networking When Working Full Time
Used to networking in uni and approaching people as a student, but how does one network at other firms (competitors or potential clients) and talk about leaving your firm without making it look bad?
World is small and don’t want to find someone I approached to join their firm on the other side of a zoom call pitching why they should work with my current firm.
Also a bit concerned to approach people that might know my bosses / colleagues.
How does one network when in the workforce?

For lateraling, do some calls and apply to firms ideally after your first year, or at least after six months if you don’t like your group.
For buyside, it’s no problem as they also needed to interview with PE firms while working in IB.
