No sophomore love

Hey everyone,

I'm a sophomore at a semi-target who is trying to break into the industry but is having trouble getting anything for the summer because...I'm a sophomore without any real connections. What would you recommend I do so I'm not too far behind next year when applying for the "big-time" internships? I've tried going through the school, e-mailing on my own, etc, but I've gotten a lot of "you sound like a great kid and we like you a lot, etc, but we want juniors so come back next year." Any advice?
