no summer, what to do?

Hi everyone,

I am enrolled in a 2 year master program at a target school in continental Europe ( 1ST YEAR). I have good grades but no work experience. I have not been able to get a summer internship for next summer in London. For several reasons, I would like to work in London. And, my target division is IBD. I wanted to ask you what is the best thing I can do right now. Should I look for an internship in Ibd at a well-know bank in my country, or should I try to find an alternative internship in London? Plus, do you think I should get another 1 year master in London after this? or is it better to start working after graduation even if it's not IBD?

Definitely would not recommend another masters program ... it seems your issues in finding a summer intern position would not be fixed by having another year to recruit (the only purpose of doing another masters IMO). Would recommend instead putting your all into finding something for this summer. My general rule of thumb is (in regard to your question ab finding a non-london internship) (*also with US tilt, might be different in Europe):

Known bank IB Target City > Known Bank IB non-target city > No-name bank IB target city > No-name bank IB non-target city > anything non-IB in target city
