NO WORK AS AN INTERN

Hello guys!

I just started my Off-Cycle Internship in a Top Group in London/Paris in a EB and I am staffed on a live deal.

However, often I am getting little work and have empty moments (days in which I just wait).

Is it normal????????? Should I do smth about it????? I am afraid I will not get a return offer.

Continue to flag that you have capacity (but don’t be annoying about it, good chance they are aware). Highly recommend going through previous CIMs/models in your downtime and trying to recreate them instead of sitting idle. Take notes, write down questions, and then try to connect with one of your more senior team members (maybe it’s a deal they did and you’re curious about the assumptions they made, etc.). Being proactive even when you’re not staffed does not go unnoticed.

I'm ngl, it could be possible that ur fine, but also it is possible that ur not fine. i remember towards the final third of my SA, i was still get a solid amount of work, like legit up until the last day. I remember the day before my last day, i was in the office with a summer assocaite til late. Multiple were not getting this much work.

I was told after getting our offers by an analyst i was tight with that the interns that r good keep getting work b/c its actually useful... those who started being less busy were some of those who didn't get returns. just something to think about to light a fire under ur ass. u might be fine but in the case  u arent, u gotta do something about it! good luck friend!

Welcome to the glorious life of an intern - you’re not expected to do shit other than have a good attitude. Continue offering to help, otherwise just relax and enjoy the down time

You could either be annoying them to the point where the team doesn’t rly want to work with you (happened to one of my co-interns, no return to him) or it’s just shit thats too technical for them to waste time assigning to you. Just relax and remind them you have capacity but don’t be overbearing.

Depends on context tbh. Happened to me for a bit but still got great reviews so sometimes it's genuinely because they don't have work for you
