Purely anecdotal but I've talked to/heard of a ton of senior guys from Notre Dame at banks and IU people are much harder to come by. I'm sure it's possible from either, but Notre Dame will definitely have a stronger alumni network and probably better placement.
Edit- the actual investment banking program at IU is very solid. I was referring more to if you aren't in that program
Ok thanks Do you know if Notre Dame has a IB specific program like the IBW at IU Kelley
Current ND Undergrad - no IB specific program like the Kelley IBW. We do have several financial modeling workshops, a Wall Street Forum and networking treks throughout the school year though. Endless panels and networking events to attend. Close proximity to Chicago and a radical alumni network makes this possible. The school seems to focus a lot on investment management. Top talent from the business school participates in an intense portfolio management course in which students manage a real portfolio of equities.
.
IU's Investment Banking Network sends 70-80 kids to Wall Street every year but is competitive to get into. Mendoza's better overall, but I've heard that program sets you up well.
Notre Dame sends at least that many to the street each year, and the school is much smaller. There are a ton of ND grads on the street, their network is known as one of the best as far as how grads will go to bat for current students.
If you are this gung ho about IB, you can break in from either school. Would echo that sentiment about most top 30-40 schools in US. What will be a much more important thing for you to consider what school is more valuable for who you are (from tuition perspective, public vs. private catholic school, student body size, what academic programs are interesting to you, etc.)
Best of luck. Feel free to pm if you want to discuss
