Numpad vs Top Row Number Keys
I'm looking to build good habits prior to my IB internship this summer. M&I state in their Excel modeling guide to use the top row numbers, but my work this summer (finance but not IB) preached using the num pad. Looking to hear what industry best practice is and any other excel setup/navigation guidelines people abide by.
If you think about it for just a couple seconds you'll realize how much easier it is to use the numpad. Much more fluid and precise. They push the analysts in training to only use that.
I think it depends. If I'm currently doing data entry (like inputting PDF financial statements), I'll use the numpad.
But for general use I prefer the row since I'm already using shortcuts anyway
This is not a subject that is worth thinking about.
