NYC IB SA to LA IB FT

Hey everyone,

I accepted a 2023 SA stint in NYC at a BB. I am an athlete at a target school with a 3.8 GPA. My goal even before I decided on trying to get into IB was to get back to the west coast to be close to my family and where I grew up, not to mention I simply like it way more than the northeast.
Couple questions I am looking for opinions and insight on...

1. Is it a bad idea to try recruiting for FT on the west coast? Should I simply stick it out and punch my ticket to the west coast through exiting to PE?

2. If it isn't a bad idea, how should I go about getting a FT spot since I am interning in NY, and all my school alumni / connections are in NY? Looking for tips on who I should reach out to / when I should start building a network.

3. I know there's threads from a few years back on the details of IB in LA, but if anyone has more recent insight to share, would love to hear it. Anything from which banks I should try recruiting at and why, what comp looks like at any level, WLB if it actually is any different from NY, etc.

Appreciate any help you guys can offer.

They’re certainly going to ask you why would you recruit for NY if you wanted west coast. The culture is very very different.
