NYC Mayor Eric Adams to big banks: We need you back in the office
Thoughts? He mentions accountants specifically, but it’s the same idea I suppose. I remember a lot of people here were rooting for him.

I mean he's not wrong cities struggle when there is no business in them. I am not in NYC, but the city I am in feels like a ghost town except for Friday and Saturday.
I think most people are advocating for a degree of hybrid work, not totally abandoning the office for good. They’d stay in NY, but I guess I can see his point.
He's gonna mandate the booster
work at a firm that was largely in office, required vaccinations, masks, and weekly testing and we had an explosion of cases in december. yeah omicron is essentially a cold but from a CYA perspective banks don’t want to deal when it’s not even necessary.

What a joke
The guy called chefs and baristas and many other professions low skill, and low academic capabilities. His communication skills are awful. I don't owe NYC anything. Pay so much in taxes, and in return I get crazy people on the streets, a District Attorney who announced he will not go after people unless they commit murder/sexual assault, delayed and dirty public transit, I can go on...
I don’t see anything wrong with what he said, although it could’ve been phrased differently. He basically said low skilled workers don’t have the skills to work office jobs. If things shut down or they stop working in restaurants, coffee shops and other stores, they can’t just go work office jobs.
Maybe he shouldn’t have called them “low skilled” but other than that he’s right.
You don't think cooking is a technical job? Highly suggest you watch some videos, and you'll see a lot of effort goes into the food served on your table. At decent restaurants, even a waiter's job is really technical as they know a menu with 40+ items like the back of their hand and can intelligently talk to you about what's in the food/drinks.
Adams backed what the DA said too… so much for getting crime under control here comes more of the same
He should just be happy that we even pay him 3% or whatever it is - which they light on fire anyway.
