NYSE vs. traders at a bank
What's the difference between trading on the NYSE and being a trader at a bank? I'm confused on their roles. At the NYSE, there are traders from MS and GS. Are they executing trades for their bank's clients? Why are they there vs. trading at the bank location itself? I thought that was the purpose of the S&T department? If someone could please explain, I'd appreciate it. Thank you!
