# of bankers at each firm? Anyone have any idea where I can get this?

Some people actually look at league table rankings and think that's the be-all end-all ranking of how strong each investment bank is. How they can think Bank of America is better than Lazard, Centerview, Greenhill, Evercore, Blackstone, etc. and not really think twice about it is beyond my comprehension.

What I think matters more than nominal global M&A value of deals is the value of deals per banker. If 50 bankers got $100 billion worth of deals, that would blow away BB's that brought in $300 billion with more like 500 bankers. The average value of each banker is much higher at the smaller firm.

So, I have a list of the total value of M&A deals for each bank in 2010. Anyone know if any data source exists where I could find the total number of investment bankers per firm?

If not, whatev's, guess I can just let people believe that Evercore and Centerview are worse than UBS.
